Congratulations to Near Eastern Languages & Civilization
The Department of Near Eastern Languages & Civilization (NELC) has a new website at nelc.washington.edu. This site debuts a brand new theme custom designed for Arts & Sciences units.
The Department Web Framework is a free service provided by the UW College of Arts & Sciences Marketing & Communications team. We design, build, and host websites for the College's departments, so they can focus on their content and communication strategies.
There are currently 33 departments using the framework service. It is available to academic departments in all four divisions: Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. If your department is interested in joining, contact Shane Fricks. What if I'm not eligible?
We've got lots of tutorials and background information in our documentation and help section.
For notices of system downtime, upgrades, new features, and workshops, join the asweb-users mailing list.
Not all units are eligible for the framework. Learn more about Arts & Sciences web services at the College's Marketing site.

A few weeks ago, the Arts & Sciences web team announced that we would be integrating department websites with the Canvas Learning Management System so that the Canvas Syllabus Descriptions would show on the websites' course detail pages. This feature went live today, so users will notice the longer descriptions being included on those pages when they are available. The old custom description still appears as "Additional Details."
Our fall quarter Department Web Framework users group will be Tuesday, October 25, from 2:00-3:00pm in CMU 202 (Simpson Center conference room).
This quarter’s topic will be courses:
Hope you can join us!
The School of Art + Art History + Design has a new website! Visit it at https://art.washington.edu. This was the culmination of a year-long collaboration between the School and the Arts & Sciences web team. Annabelle Gould, Associate Professor and Chair of the Division of Design, created a custom visual design. Although it looks very different on the surface, the site shares the same functionality and infrastructure as our other Department Web Framework sites.
In addition to building new sites, fielding support requests, and keeping Drupal modules up-to-date, the web team works to improve Department Web Framework sites throughout the year. Changes and new features since fall 2015 include:
